It Was a Smack in the Face
|
|
I was walking down Illinois Street on a fine Saturday afternoon. It was
a little cool. It was quite breezy. Then it happened. A tiny twig,
propelled in the air, smacked me right in the face. Quickly, it was
replaced with a bit of pain. Oh, it sure is November. All those leaves;
sure is getting cold, yet, allegedly, today's high is going to be somewhere
in the 70's... and this was after freezing myself at the Illinois
Homecoming game a few weeks earlier. I'd actually managed to wear shorts
around on Sunday. Oh, it sure is Illinois indeed. As far as smacklitude
in concerned, with the football game loss on Saturday, it is now officially
mathematically impossible to witness the Illinois team at a bowl game.
That's right, you can scratch off the Motor City Bowl off of your December
26th schedule. (At least they scored... and, of all things, a safety.)
Anyways, now that I'm fully in the middle of year ten on campus, I've got
this random thought. It's kinda bizarre to still be here. Oddly enough,
though, it is comforting to know that I still have people that "grew up"
with me around, too. It's nice to know you're not alone. (Though it is
a strange feeling to realize I've seen lots of college classes go by...
I went to the internet archive earlier today and thought, "awww, I
remember when the UIUC homepage looked like that [in 1997].")

Halloween Contest 2005
|
Yes, I know Halloween is long gone. By a week or so. But I have
a contest. The prize, much like the SOMTC of yore, is a bag of
candy of the winner's choice. Limit one entry per person, first
entry accepted only. Submissions by email only to uhyeahwhatever
at SG. Give me numbers for all of the following, and, if you're
closest overall to the right answers, you win! Deadline is when
I do the counting. Here are the questions:
How many pictures of me in costume do I have on my Halloween
2005 rolls of film? Of those pictures, how many ladies are in
costume? How many guys? And, how many kisses did I get for giving
out candy this past Halloween weekend.
We're talking unique individuals for question 2 and 3. For
question 1, the fact that I get double prints will not double the
number. We're talking unique prints. Have fun.

Flight of the PPhoenix
|
|
There are some of you in the world of alternate versions of
this very site that ran into something new a few days ago. You'll note
there's a [PP] next to the n@sg article link. Well, that's just
to let you know that I posted something to the official website without
prior notification to you on your alternative source for all that is
n@sg. Sometimes, it really does pay to check here once a day... that is,
unless I've been lazy or busy, in which case, you'll have quite the
boring experience. Clearly. Then again, there are some things that
show up on the main site and not on the alternatives. But those aren't
too common. Oh, Brian... why are you so difficult some times...
