The Happenings

Hotel Registration

I had this very brilliant idea... it was inspired by the fact that my apartment has random visitors, and people randomly just spend the night in our living room (though not recently, but anyways). I thought it would be cool if my apartment had some sort of guest registration book thing/visitor's log. This idea actually came up a few weeks earlier, but anyways... so I was spending the afternoon with Doug visiting multiple places of business (whence I purchaced No Doubt's self titled album) and having dinner, and of all the places I visited that afternoon and before, I was unable to find one. It saddened me... I'm sure I'll find one soon. Oh, and now Burger King's got their version of Wendy's Super Value Menu - who'd ever think you could get tacos or a baked potato from there?

Very Productive Thursday

I sure did accomplish a lot last Thursday. So I got up at 9am and went into work, where I got some stuff ready for the UI Foundation Weekend - where those billion dollar donors come by and say hi, and we host a party for them almost all day Friday and on Saturday morning. How I managed to only have to work Friday morning for that was beyond me... or, I just didn't raise my hand when they were looking for people, and they filled the spots before my giving in. Yay! The real news is that that afternoon, there was a fine event on campus that I crashed. It was the grand opening and formal dedication of the Spurlock Museum! And now, I'm sure I'll be randomly immortalized in some small little picture in their archives. My day concluded with a visit to Schnucks, where, following, I had my first non-restaurant produced meal at my apartment. What a monumental day!

Families For Fishigan

After working my Foundation shift Friday morning, I went over to my siblings' apartment and proceeded to spend the fine weekend with the family, as my parents came down from Chicagoland for a visit. Dinner at Famous Daves was yummy. Breakfast at Cracker Barrel was yummy. Illinois losing the football game to Michigan was sucky. Being on the new video screen scoreboard thing with my family just before halftime was cool. Dinner at Ned Kelly's was yummy. Brunch at Hometown Buffet was yummy.

Monday MTV Madness

After much encouragement, I got Doug to come over to my place after we had our semi-weekly Monday dinner at Hardees (buy one get one six dollar burger) to get himself caught up on the Road Rules and Real Worlds that he's missed. And now he knows all about Trishelle. Oh, poor Frank!

First and Ten for the Dad's Day

The ball is in motion... I have somehow mysteriously put together a group of seventeen people to attend the Dad's Day football game versus Purdue next Saturday! Yay! And, if you so happen to want to join a group of people to be determined at the Homecoming football game versus Indiana on October 26th, let me know by Tuesday!

The Trivia

Upsetting. While I have moderately cooled down from last weeks incident of LIES, it was still a bad feeling. I haven't quite dropped the idea of writing a letter. But, that aside, the week provided an overall poor performance by the table. It was very sad to see how ended up - I don't think we even stayed for the network rankings. Very, very sad. Fortunately, for them (the restaurant), I don't think there will be an organized boycott or anything like that.

SOM Ticketing Challenge

Week 4 is all said and done, and still leading the way is Maureen R, who fell a spot for a few days while newcomer Josh R B had a very good guess for his first event. Jim R won two of the three events of Week 4, moving him from 11th to 6th overall. Of course, all will get interesting when people drop out of winning contention by not getting their required twenty events in, while those with more than 25 start having their poor scores dropped! There's only one event in week 5, and after that there are 27 events to go, so get in the game that everyone else is playing! 54 people can't be wrong! More information is available at the website at brian.sweetgoodness.org/som/.

Actually Watched a Movie

Actually, I didn't.

"the list"

empty - a very tough call, but not enough compelling evidence to warrant a change

Careful thought about an East Coast field trip made me realize that I can't really be prancing around the country right now. It's sad, because I really looked forward to it. Oh, me, being rational.

The Happenings

Suck It Up

Wednesday was one most not fun house managing experience. It was invited dress rehearsal, and, due to the setup in the theatre, there were only about 110 usable patron seats. That's all good and all, and with me being all me, there were multiple ways of regulating the number of people. Yeah, that's because, like, twenty billion people need to see it for a class, and it's practically all sold out. I had just enough programs, and I even went so far as to have all of the programs be the same color. The other color was the only color available at coat check, should someone sneak a copy in advance. Yes, I'm crazy, but anyways... the crowd could not be contained. People broke through. I suspect some people magically got in. And it didn't help that random people were saving seats and blah blah I should be there because my uncle's brother's named Joe. Whatever. I wanted to say "suck it up and take it for the team" but, alas, I was the one taking it. Whatever. I was not fired, and all was good. I didn't even have to take anyone out, as much as I wanted to be taken out myself. Oh well, all is said and done, and the performance report is sent.

Meeting Story

Odd twist of fate: Thursday was a multi-performance night, and now I end up being the mysterious lead house manager. So, I got to run the meeting. I started by saying "the state of Illinois has no money... so, today, I did my part and took the afternoon off, so they wouldn't have to pay me overtime." And then I proceeded to talk about how I went to lunch and had 75 cent chicken finger things at Buffalo Wild Wings, and then talked about the movie I went to see. But that can wait. You'll get there.

Ordinary (Fri) Day

Just a day, just an ordinary day, and I hung out working like do, the crazy person that I am... and just as my day was ending - oh, I'd say five o'clock ish and stuff, I thought, well, let me check the ticketmaster website to see if Green Bay Packer/Chicago Bears Monday Night Football tickets were ever "late released". And, much to my amazement, they were! You see, back in the day, when tickets first went on sale back in July that random Saturday, I was online and they said you had to buy tickets as a package for that game and the Denver Broncos preseason game. Well, there was no way I was going to buy four random tickets or whatever with the hopes of selling off my preseason game to someone else... heck, I'd go but no one was really in town, and I knew I had to work the night of that other game anyways. There was no sucking it up and taking it for the team to be had. (I did, however, get tickets to the Patriots game - and not by website which was superslow and unusable, and not by Champaign ticketmaster phone, but by calling long distance to Chicago on my calling card, but anyways...) Lo and behold, I met with a friend three days later and she told me she only wanted tickets to the Broncos game so we quickly made our way to the ticketmaster outlet at Bergners, and all games just about sold out, especially the Green Bay game. Disappointment, indeed. Flash forward to now; recent checks of the website showed that tickets could possibly be sold in the near future by ordering tickets for it and a December game as a package, provided you call the ticketmaster number. Which I did. They said to keep checking. Sigh. But yeah, I did get a ticket. Only single seats were available - it would have been nice to have another for a friend or family member or potential listness... whatever. But that's not all for this ordinary day, as I used my yet another Friday night off having dinner with highschoolness at Dos Reales before catching up on life at no where other than at the Kran... I did stop by and say hi to Nancy in the Promenade, who is now scheduled to make an appearance at the Homecoming football game with the group to be determined. Anyone else want to go? Last chance!

Schedule Change

No, I didn't actually take Saturday night off. House manager Chris had to work his other job, so I sucked it up and took it for the team, and worked his show. And Piotr and Dyanna had a good time in the seats I had for the show. Well, not like that.

Ordinary (Sun) Day

Just a day, just an ordinary day, and I hung out working like do, the crazy person that I am... and just as my day was ending - oh, I'd say five o'clock - after I finished up doing and turning in the student timecards, I made my Sunday trip to Arbys for the two beef and cheddar sandwiches for three dollars. Yum, yum, yeah, yeah, and on my way back, I realized I had to do one last thing all the way back at Krannert. Just when I thought my two hours was enough! So back I went, and, whilst there, I did my work and then hung on to AIM while I did some random brian busy work. Then I received an instant message from Abby, who I haven't seen in like, almost six months! So, we had a little reunion for an hour while we and a few of her friends watched the second episode of Alias (season 2). Good times; way to be; it was cold outside. And if that wasn't enough, Benjam and I hung out at Jimmy Johns for two hours really late at night.

Dah, Dah, Dah, Dah... Dum Dum; Dum Dum (aka Monday Night Football Theme)

It was a great day... there was that excitement in the air. I was excited. It was cool... It was history in the making in the middle of this cornfield. Too bad the Chicago Bears lost. I was decked out in a blue Bears/Memorial Stadium T-Shirt and had my orange and blue jester had that I picked up in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl. I had a mini-gathering at Cornie's before the game. Ate a pound of hamburger goodness. Made a sign that made it onto the stadium's display. Couldn't tell it was me. It said "abc broadcasts champions" - ah well. There's a memorable $61.80 I'll never see again.

The Trivia

The trivia went on, and it was less than stellar... of course, it was still a good time, as Sara made her reappearance for the festivities! Overall, it was just a bunch of indecision and stuff we didn't know. Quite sad, actually.

SOM Ticketing Challenge

Week 5 is all said and done, and the overall leader has fallen! Melisa K gains the top spot, while last week's leader, Maureen R, falls to number two. It was a slow week, but things pick up with Week 6 and its three events - the first of which is tonight! Get your required twenty in soon! 59 people can't be wrong! More information is available at the website at brian.sweetgoodness.org/som/.

This Day in History

October 9, 2000: Alina teaches some of us some vocabulary... callipygian also calipygeous (adj.) Having beautifully proportioned buttocks.

Actually Watched a Movie

"Swimfan" (2002): Thursday, I had lunch. Then I walked to the movie theatre. I got there at 1:19pm. The next movie was 1:20pm. It was this movie. I saw it. Oh, my, it was so bad, I wanted to shoot myself. Actually, I wanted to walk out, but since I actually paid to see it, I stayed to the end because I wanted to make sure the freak that just didn't get it didn't get away with the craziness, no matter how attractive she was. But that's okay - she's not my type, whatever that is. But the guy lead's girl, played by the would be an issue if I knew her, Shiri Appleby, couldn't even save my possibly liking this movie. Wow.
"Apollo 13" (1995): A scan of all the cable channels available to me this past weekend revealed to me that it was a free Starz channel preview weekend. So, late one night, I watched this movie I hadn't seen before. Stuff happened. It was not good for the space peoples, and eventually, all was good. Cool movie. I knew that it would end well. Still shed a tear of happiness. Eh, 3am will do that to you or something. I don't know.

The Happenings

Suck It Up

Wednesday was one most fun house managing experience. It was a random mid week performance of 4 by Beckett, the same performance that haunted me last Wednesday with its overstuffage desires. Well, the only reason I bring it up is because, out of that night's official 109 usable patron seats, I sold 110! I sold an empty usher seat to someone waiting in the late release line. (Rather, the ticket office sold the ticket, but I released the seat for them to general sale-able-ness.) It was a very fulfilling night.

Meeting Story

Odd twist of fate: Wednesday was a multi-performance night, and now I end up being the mysterious lead house manager. So, I got to run the meeting. I started by teaching everyone last Wednesday's word of the day, thanks to news.sweetgoodness ... good times. Sorry, just finding a way to squeeze that in.

Ordinary (Fri) Day

Just a day, just an ordinary day, and I hung out working like do, the crazy person that I am... really, though. Aside from my taking Thursday afternoon off to watch a movie, it started out very slowly. There was not much activity to report, not much fun was had. And then it was the parental arrival weekend for many University of Illinois kids... it was Dad's Day.

Schedule Change

No, I didn't actually take Saturday night off. I wasn't supposed to, so there. The change was the added breakfast gathering before the supergroup trip to the football game. So, one fine Saturday morning, being a punk and naming myself first, there was me, and Josh, and Josh, and Josh's friend. Oh, it was so early in the morning, I can't hardly remember it, but it was at Perkins and I paid by credit card. And after retreating to Krannert for a group walkover that didn't quite happen, it was game time! It was a great game, if you don't consider the fact that the Illini were winning 24-0, and then blew the lead and scored a game-tying touchdown with less than 10 seconds left to make it 31-31, and then avoided a crushing defeat as their last-second hail mary pass officially ended up one yard short as time expired. Overtime proved victorious, as the Illini officially can still be at a bowl game in December if they win their remaining five games. And the coolness? Our seats were front row, in front of the end zone where the overtime activity took place. Yay!

Ordinary (Sun) Day

Forgone was my usual Sunday Arby's experience, as most people know, they have their two beef and cheddar sandwiches for three dollars... at least in Urbana. Instead, I was saving up for roommate Rob's birthday party (who had the real birthday on Monday, but anyways). Yay, pizza I didn't pay for! Rob is old. There.

And I Will Wake Up Happy

As I lay me down to sleep, and I will pray, that I just watched three hours of Dawson's Creek. Monday being the usual dark day in the land of theatre, at least at Krannert, some time was spent back and forth between the Director's Office and the Patron Services Office before I let myself free around 3:30pm. For what was going on? C-Span surely knows the answer: The Wolfram guy of Mathematica fame was giving a lecture at Foellinger Auditorium to talk about, well, him and his new kind of science - a book he wrote, called "A New Kind of Science". I was hungry. Admittedly, I fell asleep, but not before I found out he's brilliant and he's responsible for making the number "30" so popular! For playing with cellular automata stuffs with different, simple rules, he discovered craziness with Rule 30 that might explain some things we see in nature. I mean, hey, nature can't be complicated. It can't be explained by equations, but it can by "I'm the Best" Wolfram rule 30! Really, though, it was a very interesting lecture, and it was a shame that I was tired and hungry, but I also gather that I didn't miss much during my attentive absence. He's so dreamy, I want to have my own crazy thousand page book that talks about my coolness and my random thoughts.

Stupid Singular

The cell phone company knows I moved. It knew before the news propagated to most of my friends. I lost my cell phone. I had service suspended during the loss. I had to verify my address to reactivate it when it was found. Then, why, two billing statements later, do they insist to mail my statement to my old address? Punk freak dorks.

The Trivia

The trivia went on, and it was less than stellar... of course, it was still a good time, as Sara made her reappearance for the festivities! Overall, it was just a bunch of indecision and stuff we didn't know. Quite sad, actually. (Yes, exact same feelings as last week.)

SOM Ticketing Challenge

Week 6 is all said and done, and the overall leader Melisa K maintains, probably because she's done no events to affect her average. Kristin G makes some exciting appearance toward the top of the list, and, as for most everyone else, Dad's Day Men's Glee broke many a people's averages with a stellar showing of 1481. With people's scores as low as 734.50, craziness ensues, as we slowly reach the mark where people can't make a twenty event minimum. There has already been talk about how some people can't wait for when scores start getting dropped. Oh, not everyone has that luxury, but I do! I've climbed into tenth overall. 64 people can't be wrong! More information is available at the website at brian.sweetgoodness.org/som/.

This Day in History

October 16, 2001: I work an overtime day hanging out in coat check for the Glass Conference. How uninteresting.

Actually Watched a Movie

"Sweet Home Alabama" (2002): Awww, it really was delightful. I really did enjoy the film. But, no matter which guy you relate two, they each get screwed in some way by Reese Witherspoon's character. But far be it for me to ruin the end for the random splattering of you that might actually care which guy this Dixie turn Yankee girl ends up loving in the end. If only someone would want to marry me, so she could kiss me any time she wanted.

"the list"

empty - sadly it was without a question

mdate Scheduling

next week

In this weekend originally scheduled as a Washington DC hold, what could happen? Nothing? Here's how it looks as of print-time:

The Happenings

Suck It Up

Wednesday was one most long house managing experience. It was just a long day in general, going from when it began at the lunchtime Interval series and continued into the evening with two Creative Intersecion events. It's not that anything was particularly difficult... it's that they were spaced just far enough apart to make it seem like it lasted forever. Oh, and the fifty billion kids in the Studio Theatre that evening didn't help, either. Whoa, superfullness. Whatever. I always seem to end up working the interesting ones. Why can't I work a nice easy event like a sold out Marquee performance or something...

Allright... Wait For It

It was Thursday night, and the building was hosting an annual event: a night where the corporate sponsors come and chill and have fun and see a little ditty. But anyways, I digress. However, since apparently you care, I, being me, was given the assignment of taking wine toting donors around on a little 35 minute tour before the night's events really started to go into full effect. At first, I was kinda unhappy that I had to do it, but I sucked it up, took it for the team, and gave a great fun tour! I'm sure it was one of the most exciting half hours that small group had experienced in a while. With wine glasses and beer bottles in hand, the tour pressed on as we wandered in random brian-tour fashion. I'll bet some of them will still randomly wonder how I knew the Studio women's dressing room has good water pressure. Of course, I left that question unanswered. (Don't fret. The answer isn't exciting.)

Okay, now. Take It For The Team!

The night went onward with the reception in the Studio Theatre before moving to the Lobby where Marcus Roberts would perform. And perform he did; the great music that was sweet goodness to the ears. And all that happened (so far...) was that the weather alert light went off. So, Front Desk Emily and I went to check it out. And in that brief minute where we are in the office and not at the front desk, the intercom system goes behind the front desk counter disrupting the enjoyment that was being had by the lobby performance. You gotta do what you gotta do, right? And was the disturbance worth it? The weather light went off for a random, non warning reason, and the intercom call was someone who said they needed help to get into a performance in a theatre - and there were none of those. But as to what you just might care about... as Emily and I dove through the door to answer the intercom, I slid a mini-slide thing, and split my pants. I retreated into the office, and, since I am me, there was a sewing kit in my coat pocket. And the bad news: there was no needle, but there was a small safety pin! I tried to properly use the safety pin to hold the pants without damaging, well, myself. Don't worry. I am unharmed, but the job down there didn't appear it would hold nor did it conceal well. I discretely excused myself to a lesser used men's room on level four and used a big paper clip (after deciding the pants were going to take it for the team one last time) as if it was a thread and forced it through the nonexistant seam several times, keeping it in place with a binder clip and used the safety pin for good measure. I made it through the night without any other incidents, albeit mildly uncomfortalby. Needless to say, new pants were purchased the next day.

Meeting Story

And then I saw the vision I had seen several times over the summer. It was only at the end of summer were names exchanged, and since then there was a random very infrequent sighting. Could it be, was a beat skipped? Well, not quite, but Kellie will claim that I sure looked stupid. And there's your "what are you talking about story" of the week.

Ordinary (Fri) Day

Just a day, just an ordinary day. I bought pants. And I even worked as a host at Krannert Friday and Saturday night. What is this world coming to?

Classic Example

My friend Patricia's getting married. I got her invitation for her November 2nd wedding on October 18th, just hours after I scheduled my month of November. Doh! But I wish her the very best. See how scheduling in advance helps?

Double Checked for Accuracy

== conversation 1 ==
Rachel says "are you going to Melisa's potluck?"
Brian says "I have no idea what you're talking about."
Rachel says "You didn't get the emails? I guess it's a girl's night thing. I'll have to check on that.
Brian says "Whatever."
== conversation 2 ==
Anna says "are you going to Melisa's potluck?"
Brian says "I have no idea what you're talking about."
Anna says "You didn't get the emails? It's tomorrow night. You should bring something."
Brian says "I have no time to go cook anything, or get food, etc. as I, at this time, no longer have time to do anything that is previously scheduled. Whatever."
== conversation 3 ==
Josh says "are you going to Melisa's potluck?"
Brian says "I have no idea what you're talking about."
Josh says "You didn't get the emails? That's weird."
Brian says "What emails. Of course I read my email. Whatever."
Josh says "Your email address was misspelled. I will forward them on."
Brian says "Great. I still don't have time to do stuff."
== conversation 4 ==
Melisa says "I still owe you $15 for the football ticket."
Brian says "Records indicate that statement is correct."
Melisa hands over fifteen dollars.
Brian says "Whatever."

In the end, I did end up going, after getting some yummy donuts and cider from Curtis Orchard when I went there with Anna earlier that Saturday afternoon. For future reference, uhyeahwhatever is spelled U H Y E A H W H A T E V E R. Whatever.

Hit The Road - Or Not

Congrats are in order for Northwestern University for being the first Big Ten school this year to have a football team to be officially bowl ineligible according to Brian math. Way to be.

More Mathematics

Monday evening, the Krannert Center lobby played host to the Piccadilly Beverage Shop Annual Fall Wine Tasting. You pay five dollars to get a glass to wander around and taste a whole lot of wine. A good deal - that's what I hear. The great thing is that it went on without incident. But let me take some time to do some math. Assuming you arrive at the start of the event at 4:00pm, and leave at closing at 8:00pm, and a glass of wine is equivalent to a shot of alcohol, and you get poured a quarter of a glass of wine, and you try all 193 different bottles of wine, then that's like you having a shot every five minutes for four hours!

The Trivia

The trivia went on, and it was less than stellar... of course, it was still a good time, as Laura and Mark made their first appearances. We actually did finish well, as the other table didn't know the final answer. We didn't either but narrowed it down and chose correctly quickly.

Continuing the Tradition

I've done many things to remind people that daylight savings time begins or ends... and it ends this coming weekend, by the way. I've written two song parodies to commemorate the end of it. Fall 1997 had my Spice Girls "2 Become 1" song and Fall 1999 had my LFO "Summer Girls" song rewritten for daylight saving goodness. And now, this year's song, based off of John Mayer's "No Such Thing"!
"It's that time of year" Brian said to thee
Usual; Crazily
"Last Sunday... October
Figure out how to set the clock"
Ben Franklin never dreamed he'd be prom king
Just some wacky thing
I'd like to think the next big thing
will not be "Where's the Beef"

They love to tell you "spring forward and fall back"
I'll get my hour April sure did lack

I wanna run through the halls of my fine home
I wanna scream that "I want my hour back"
I just found out there's no such thing - daylight saving
Arizona's got one thing to love.

So the good boys and girls take
the time to remind you
Stupid signs and
some funky songs; maybe haikus
They might do research to figure out why
And all of my free time
Getting sucked away
Wonder if anyone cared that I wrote this
Uh yeah whatever
Semi-Tradition

They love to tell you "spring forward and fall back"
I'll get my hour April sure did lack

I wanna run through the halls of my fine home
I wanna scream that "I want my hour back"
I just found out there's no such thing - daylight saving
Arizona's got one thing to love.

I am invincible; I am invincible; I am invincible as long as I'm on time!

I wanna run through the halls of my fine home
I wanna scream that "I want my hour back"
I just found out there's no such thing - daylight saving
Arizona's got one thing to love.

I just can't wait til it's two in the morning
I'm gonna wind back my little watch
And I'll hang out and party just a bit more
Or get that sleep I need so ... much.

SOM Ticketing Challenge

Week 7 is all said and done, and with the 20 event cutoff fast approaching, a few of the top few have disappeared back into the pack. It won't be long before people will start disappearing from the overall rankings altogether! All this movement just creates room for me to sneak into number five, as I didn't have a poor Dad's Day showing to keep me down. 65 people can't be wrong! More information is available at the website at brian.sweetgoodness.org/som/.

Actually Watched a Movie

"One Hour Photo" (2002): It really was a freaky film, but you know how it ends right when it starts. Maybe it's because it starts with where it ends. Then Robin Williams does the whole movie is a flashback kinda thing. And, yeah... who takes pictures of random crap and the bad times besides just the good? Well, I do on occasion.

The Happenings

Suck It Up

Let me make this my fair notice. Should I receive an email, it is safe to assume that I will read it eventually. Should your email expect a response, please indicate your expectation, however, note that such a response is not guaranteed. But I'll try! I hate to be such a dork like that. Onwards, should I receive an instant message, know that almost all of the time, I may be in work mode, since I work, well, all the time. I will try to respond in a timely manner if I am around the computer I am at, should the situation dictate. Heck, even if I'm not at work, I could quite possibly be working. Because I am dork. In times when there is a lot going on and there is no response, don't assume that I haven't forgotten about you (although that may be the case), but to increase responsiveness, give me something to work with! For your convenience, I will try to think of some particularly "busy" times with respect to me working on any random project of mine...
Wednesday: throughout the day, especially if news has not been posted
Wednesday evenings: 10pm-12am, really especially if news has not been posted
Saturday: at least one random period, usually the first "significant" time online (Saturday is online bill payment day)
Sunday: at least one random period, usually the first "significant" time online (Sunday is personal weekly audit day and payroll is due day)
Monday: morning, as the Ticketing Challenge is updated
Monday: afternoon, to clean up the mess that happened last week

I think that may be it, but also know that when I am in the "work" state and I really am doing something, I am very apt to not handle non work matters. But whatever.

Allright... Wait For It

The Othello performances are so long! While I trust it is not a bad performance or anything horrible like that, just the sheer length of it is making me sleepy while I type about it. I'm very glad that throughout its run, I only have to work it three times... right, well, I forgot I also take tickets for it twice during the day. Eh.

Okay, now. Take It For The Team!

So it's almost Thursday, and, news is not yet posted. Tell me something I don't know, as I am trying to struggle to keep my friends with their inquiring minds satisfied. Know that for me to tell you about my life requires me to have one once in a while, and I really do want to share my thoughts and stories with you. It just might have to be a little late once in a while. I feel bad when you don't have your precious news "on time", but, please, and I sincerely mean this when I say "I know. It'll be there in due time." I do make efforts to ensure you get your quality Brian in all ways possible, but at times, I get the feeling that I don't want to do this. That it's too much effort. If you know how I am, the life of being me really is a crazy job. The mystery is over - it could be that as I have made my life one complex system of rules, order, and procedures, more is expected from me (as in the Brian experience). It just frustrates me, that's all... I don't know what I'm trying to convey. I know it's a running joke whenever I am "operating on a different business day" than the true day, and I don't mind the taunting and joking around, but that's because I care about these things - record keeping and the like, and yeah. Whatever. My daily records are for me, and I understand that. My weekly updates/news is for everyone, and I would prefer that it remain fun and something I enjoy doing for everyone out there, and not turn into an unspoken mandate of random additional work for me to do. But, in my sense to appease and please the hearts and souls wanting to know, I worked on news last week long into the Wednesday night that it became Thursday while I was working on it. And I kept on working until its completion - which was at 1:30 in the morning. And so, I took it for the team, and left Krannert, and then took it for the team again when alarm went off. It is not an experience I recommend. Sigh.

Meeting Story

After the longest time, Abby and I hung out, if but for an evening. Our real true reunion since spring included a fine dinner at the Courier Cafe, followed by a great evening of watching TV and TiVo programming. What more can I ask for for one of those rare nights where I'm not working a performance? Just lying on my bed and staring into a box of light was one of the most relaxing experiences I've had in a while. It was an absolute delight to catch up; it was like one of those "hey, what's going on, it's been forever, friendship catchups like we hung out with no gap kind of thing" things - does that make sense? If you're concerned with the listular aspect, I did discover a change in attribute, but, in the truest sense I had no intention of making a list change or considering it because of the circumstance. The memories abounded but there was no "Feel It". And so the random (or not so) cryptics of news show their heads once more.

Ordinary (Fri) Day

It started with a tour of Kran for a group from Green Bay, who enjoyed the fact that their fine Packers took out tour Bears just a few weeks ago. Then, I had lunch with my Holiday Inn friend, Megan. It was the usual lunch. I told a story. She said I was stupid and I should act on, well, stuff. And she told a story. And I made fun of her. It was classic. And my story was in the usual messed up hidden context and the terms of miscellaney. Good times.

Classic Example

While there is no PC, assume there is FPC(1) and FPC(2) along with the recent FI previously FCCA. It is odd that, over the course of the weekend, there were events scheduled involving FPCs and FI, even though, in the truest sense, the closest thing remotely resembling a PC, if it existed, was no where to be found on the mdate master.

Another GREat Night?

What better way to spend my Friday night off (hmm... now that I think about it, I've actually had a fair number of those so far this semester) than to hang out where at Krannert at Interlude! I spent the evening hanging out with Basia as she studied for her GRE which was to take place in, well, the beginning of November. Since I'm prone to make up my own words, I wasn't a very big help with the vocabulary portion, although I did surprise myself with what words I did know (not that I remember those now). Now, seeing the math stuff was like I was looking at random SAT crap again, it was kinda cool because I knew how to do that stuff! Yay! The evening ended in my being offered a beer sometime for helping out, and then a late dinner was had with KCSA "oldies" (but not that old) Josh, Vince, and Joe. It was a great time, and I was glad I paid my bill, otherwise I may have been subject to a beat down like the other guy that left without paying while we were there. The cook ran out after him with huge metalic object for beatdownness. Ah, well.

Schedule Uncertainty

Illinois defeated Indiana for a cold weather Homecoming victory which keeps alive the slim chance that Illinois will get to go to one of the seven Big Ten bowl games. Of course, it would be sad if there were less than seven bowl eligible teams such that random at-large teams would take the spot that would go to us. But what I'm wondering is... what does "bowl eligible" mean? Does it mean "winning record" ( greater than .500 ); does it mean "not a losing record" ( greater or equal than .500 ); or does it mean six victories? Because now that the Big Ten teams have twelve games, do they need to go 7-5, or is 6-6 good enough? It wasn't an issue last year, since 6-5 is good and 5-6 is not. If somone could please direct me to a source with a definitive answer, I would so be greatly appreciated. That, and I had my first ever chili product thanks to the Mix 94.5 tailgate I attended prior to the game.

Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent

At KCSA's "Taste of the Arts", which, might I add, was a fun experience with great exhibits and performances, there was an Origami table[s]. And, out of the corner of my eye, I had a brief vision which I confirmed. The dad of the girl who was running the table was my (now retired) Geometry Honors teacher from freshman year in high school in the way back machine of 1992-1993. Oh, and it was just neat to see some of an independent film and was even neater to see a hip hop group perform in front of the Festival Theatre while the Contra Band was performing the Cardigan's "Lovefool" blasting away by Intermezzo in the Playhouse upper foyer!

The Return of Sale Usage

After a few weeks off, Sunday Arby's resumed with a field trip there with Autumn. Yummy. As far as "BOGO Mondays" with Doug was concerned, the usual Hardees was forgone for a change in tastes - we had hot dogs and the like instead from Wienerschnitzel.

The Trivia

The trivia went on, and while it was without prizes, the games continued. In the end, it was I that represented out table with a final placement at number 3, defeated only by portions of the competition table. A small group today - perhaps due to the uninterrupted premiere of "24" on FOX this evening *cough* Zach *cough* missing a bus.

SOM Ticketing Challenge

Week 8 is all said and done, and there are but 19 events left. This week will be a slow one with no events, but when things start back up with week 9, the real shakeup begins. For now, I'm sitting pretty with a high standing and many events under my belt! 66 people can't be wrong! More information is available at the website at brian.sweetgoodness.org/som/.
